Acai Scam 3 - processes used

Acai has a very short period of time after picked before it rapidly degenerates and all of its healthy properties go away.

To counter this there are various methods to process the Acai berries once harvested

The only reliable one is mentioned below and this is aprocess called freeze drying, again many companies do not use this technique and use high temperatures to dry the fruits, this results in the berries losing many of their nutrional benefits. Also the products can be pasteurised which again results in the loss of nutrients

The product is freeze dried in a process employed to dry up fruits with high technology for products that are extremely sensitive to high temperature. Moisture is removed from the product using a very low temperature  and a vacuum there's no pasteurisation or heat used! The procedure keeps the product taste intact, fresh and in its natural color. It preserves nearly all of its vitamins, enzymes and nutrients, primarily carotene, anthocyanin (antioxidant) and vitamin C

If you are buying an acai product determine how the product was processed, it can make a big difference in the benefits you receive.

N.B

Some acai berry products are not processed at all, this is worse as the nutritional benefits will be gone prior to you receiving it. Avoid.

Acai Scam 2 - Free Trial offers

Where do I start with this one?

The concept is that you visit an attractive website and prominently displayed is the get a free trial of the product... seems to good to be true. Free product just pay shipping.

Well here's the drawback, READ THE SMALLPRINT. It generally says that you are entering a trial period of 15 to 30 days, once that trial period is up your credit card which you supplied as part of the free trial offer details is billed.

Thats right if you do not cancel the trial before the date of the trial is up you will be billed. Not a problem I'll cancel the trial but from research on the web it appears that this cancellation information is not liberally displayed on the site, the method tends to be a phone number and you cant find the phone number or no-one answers the phone.

Now not all trial offers are like this but from the complaints I have seen many are .. just be careful

Acai Scam 1 - Acai Content

The first scam related to acai berries to look out for is the concentration of Acai you actually get in the product you are buying.

As the popularity of acai has grown so have the quantity of products on the market, sadly these acai products are not all of top quality.

The main problem is in its pure form acai is genuinely beneficial but many of the acai products come with filler ingredients, these filler ingredients are supposedly added to boost the 'fat burning' or 'weight loss' effects of the product. In reality there is very little proof of this.

Some examples of filler ingredients can be green tea extract, caffeine, yerba and guarana. Now these ingredients do have health implications but there are a couple of issues here.

1/ There are far cheaper products on the market with these ingredients available seperately but the price of the product you get is higher because of the acai content.

2/ The products focus on acai and the miracle fat loss, detox and weight loss but in reality the dosage has been reduced to such an extent that these effects are greatly diminished.

3/ A lot of products list the ingredients but not the concentrations.

In short, 100% pure acai is all that will do.

What is Acai.

Acai is an antioxidant rich berry that originates in the Brazilian Amazon and tropic forests in Cetral America and is thought to be amongst the most effective superfoods in the world. Acai has long been consumed in Brazil but is relatively brand-new to other regions of the world.

Acai, like a few other fruits and herbs found in the rainforests on this planet holds the key to a lot of the unknown health benefits.

An understanding for acai's slow adoption in various countries is that the fruits can be consumed only for a brief time period post harvesting, before it quickly deteriorates. Therefore the fruit is merely obtainable in juice or fruit pulp outside the growing area. The juice and pulp of acai fruits are frequently utilised in various juice mixes, smoothies, sodas, and other drinks, mainly in South America.

Acai fruit flavour and texture

The fruit pulp is a deep purple color and is similar to a blueberry or ice cream with a suggestion of chocolate flavour. Acai berries are created by a palm known scientifically as Euterpe Oleracea, most common in flood plain regions of the Amazon. Once ripe, the berries assume a dark purplish color and roughly the size of a blueberry. They comprise a thin layer of fruit pulp which surrounds a large seed.

The Nutrients in Acai Berries

Oleic acid (monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid)
Palmitic acid
Linoleic acid (unsaturated omega-6 fatty acid)
Anthocyanins
Beta-sitosterol , a phytosterol that inhibits cholesterol absorption.

The fibre content is approximately forty-four percent of the complete fruit mass, making it amongst the most fibre loaded fruits.

The fruit pulp similarly has very impressive antibacterial attributes, leading to wide utilisation as an astringent drug in South America. All of the preceding nutrients sets up acai as one of the densest source of nutrients you'll be able to acquire in a fruit form.
